Karina Carrero

Karina Carrero graduated from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, in 2006, with a B.A. in Psychology. Throughout college, she volunteered with the Child Abuse Prevention Center in White Plains, New York, where she assisted troubled children. After graduating, she moved to New Zealand, where she worked. She then mentored and chaperoned high school students on trips to South Africa and Costa Rica.
An avid skier, trail runner and tennis player, she uses her strong determination and indefatigable drive to consistently move forward whilst pursuing her interests.
She started her PR career with Thompson and Bender, a multimillion-dollar, full-service agency, when she was asked to assess consumers’ preferences from a psychological standpoint, and found PR, product packaging, and branding so fascinating, that she decided to merge her two passions, Psychology and Marketing, into a new career.
She volunteered with Angel Flight West to promote several fund-raising campaigns, design new flyers for them, PR and market their image. This would eventually give birth to Karina Social, and a plethora of collaborations with firms such as Bankinfra Technology, a startup she helped brand.

Gary Berzner

General Counsel

Gary Berzner has been representing technology and new media companies in a wide range of corporate, commercial and intellectual property matters since 2003.

Prior to starting his private law practice, Gary served as General Counsel to Stickam Worldwide, Inc., where he was responsible for all in-house legal functions. For more than eight years he directed the company’s legal affairs in support of the launch and worldwide operations of the Stickam social networking website.

Throughout his tenure at “Stickam,” Gary served as the sole in-house legal advisor to senior management in areas of strategic transactions and risk management. Key accomplishments included assisting in establishing policies and procedures designed to protect third-party intellectual property rights, and to protect users from “online abuse” without stifling growth. As a result, in eight years of operation, “Stickam” was able to grow to be the largest live-streaming social network without becoming involved in any material litigation.

Prior to, and simultaneously while working for “Stickam,” Gary served as General Counsel to “Stickam’s” affiliate, Hypermedia Systems, Inc., an Internet service provider and application developer that provides high-speed content delivery, designs critical network infrastructure, and develops web applications on a global basis. He joined eTimes Corporation in 2003, where he provided consulting services to web-based businesses on tax and legal issues pertaining to ecommerce. Gary began his legal career in private practice litigating business and real estate disputes.

Prior to attending law school, he worked as a tax and financial accountant in the Controller’s office at American University, in Washington, DC; at a number of CPA firms in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, and as the controller of a video production company in Los Angeles.

Gary holds a J.D. degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he graduated Cum Laude and attended classes in London, England. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park and earned a B.S. degree in accounting. Gary is a member of the California Bar Association.
